The Sausalito Center For The Arts is delighted to welcome Paige Valentine to Corner Shop for a special, limited-time showcase beginning September 3.
For those who enjoy expressionist art and ceramics, the Sausalito Center For The Arts’ Cornershop will present a new solo exhibition by East Bay multidisciplinary artist Paige Valentine, opening this August and continuing into the fall.
Valentine brings her distinctive blend of painting and ceramics to the space, offering works that merge humor, tenderness, grief, and interspecies connection. Known for pieces that often defy traditional functionality, Valentine creates intricate ceramic scenes by combining and assembling elements, inviting viewers to linger over the details.
A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute with a BFA in painting, Valentine teaches hand-building ceramic techniques and gas/soda firing at The Potters Studio in Berkeley. Her work has been exhibited internationally, with shows in Paris, Los Angeles, and San Francisco—even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2023 at Part 2 Gallery in Oakland, she presented a series of vessels displayed on structural ceramic shelves affixed directly to gallery walls, demonstrating her ability to integrate concept, craft, and intimate scale—no piece larger than a cubic foot. This precision and attention to form make her work as inviting in a home as it is thought-provoking in a gallery.
