Author Dennis McNally and his wife, photographer Susana Millman, will share their close relationship with Jerry Garcia through personal stories and pictures.
Dennis served as the official publicist and archivist for the Grateful Dead for over 20 years and is the author of "A Long Strange Trip: The Inside History of the Grateful Dead." He will be joined by Susana Millman, who spent 25 years photographing the band starting in the mid-80s.
Susana recently published the coffee table book "Alive with the Dead: A Fly on the Wall with a Camera," which provides an up-close and personal look at the band during its middle age and beyond, thanks to her unusually intimate access as a personal friend of Garcia's.
Dennis McNally once said, "Jerry Garcia was the most remarkable mind and personality that I (and a lot of other people) ever encountered – the most curious, the most articulate, the most charismatic. Talking with him was about as much fun as I could stand. I got to do that quite a lot.” His book, "Jerry on Jerry," is filled with enlightening interviews with Garcia.
Their talk will bring to life the pieces of art by Garcia currently on display at SCA as both Dennis and Susana recount their unique experiences and present intimate photographs.
