The Sausalito Center for the Arts proudly welcomes the exceptional Onde Trio to the scenic shores of Sausalito. Known for their vibrant artistry and youthful energy, the Onde Trio delivers chamber music infused with passion, precision, and a touch of humor. Their name, inspired by the Italian word onde (wave), reflects the waves of sound they create, their connection to the San Francisco Bay, and even a playful nod to the waves in their hair.
This award-winning ensemble has rapidly garnered accolades, including First Prize in the US International Music Competition's (USIMC) Young Artist Award in Classical Chamber Music in 2024, as well as second-place honors in the MIMA Young Artist Competition and the ENKOR International Music Competition. Their talent earned them a masterclass with piano legend Emanuel Ax, where they honed their craft under his insightful guidance.
The Onde Trio has captivated audiences across the Bay Area, most recently performing to a full house at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Bowes Center. Their concert, An Evening with the Onde Trio, showcased their dynamic interpretations and heartfelt connection to their music. They have also graced the stages of esteemed venues such as the Berkeley Piano Club, the Crowden School, and the USIMC Winner's Concert in Palo Alto.
As a trio of multi-racial musicians dedicated to amplifying Black and Latino/a representation in classical music, the Onde Trio is passionate about sharing their artistry with diverse audiences. Kamil Iny-Woods
Kamil is a 15 year-old pianist from Oakland, California who studies with Arkadi Serper at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College, where he is the recipient of the Moon J. Song Scholarship.
Kamil began studying piano at the age of six at the Crowden Community Music Center in Berkeley, and has been studying with Mr. Serper since 2019. In the 2023-24 school year, Kamil studied Jazz Harmony with Ken French. In the summer of 2024, he attended the Colburn Chamber Music Intensive, where he performed in a Masterclass for Joanne Pearce Martin, principal pianist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 2023, he studied with pianist Davide Cava at the Chee Yun & Friends Festival at the San Domenico Conservatory. In 2022 and 2021, he participated in Crowden’s summer Chamber Music Workshop. His chamber music experience includes piano duets, four hands, and eight-hands; piano trios, and piano quintets.
Kamil appreciates the way that piano allows him to explore a rich tapestry of emotions, and discover connection and inspiration with an array of composers. In his free time, Kamil enjoys photography and playing basketball and football with friends. Kamil is a sophomore at Berkeley High School.
Sydney Li-Jenkins
Sydney is a 14 year-old violinist from Sausalito who is passionate about creating beautiful sounds on her instrument to tell a story and express herself. She is excited and honored to perform this recital with her trio in her hometown. For her, this event will be more than just a performance; it’s an opportunity to connect with the community that has supported and inspired her as she grows to be a musician. Sharing her passion for music with her home community will be a special milestone in her career.
Sydney has been playing the violin since three and studies with Elbert Tsai at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Sydney has been selected as a semi-finalist in the Junior Division of the 2025 28th Annual Sphinx Competition in Detroit, a prestigious national competition that celebrates artist talents and provides career opportunities for Black and Latino string players. Sydney has soloed with multiple local orchestras in Marin including the Mill Valley Philharmonic and the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra (MSYO). She is a three time recipient of Marin Music Chest and the recipient of the Black Violin Foundation Dreamer Instrument Access and Dreamer Diversity Equity Inclusion Grant. She has won first prize in competitions including Pacific Music Society, Korean-American Music Supporters Association (KAMSA) Competition, and the International Youth Music Competition.
Sydney is the Co-Principal Second Violin of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and had previously been the Co-Concertmaster of the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra. Sydney has attended Music@Menlo (2024), Center Stage Strings at the University of Michigan MPulse Summer Institute (2023, 2024), and the Sphinx Performance Academy at Juilliard (2022) and Cleveland Institute of Music (2023). She has played in masterclasses for esteemed violinists and pedagogues Danielle Belen, Jessie Montgomery, and Simone Porter.
Sydney is a freshman at the Branson School in Ross.
Elan Dorman Mackenzie
Elan is a 15 year-old cellist who studies with Jonathan Koh at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College as a recipient of the Peter Boesch and Darrill Hudson Scholarship.
Elan began his cello and chamber music training at age seven at The Crowden School in Berkeley and has trained internationally at The Royal Academy of Music junior conservatory in London. Elan is one of nine semi-finalists in the national 2025 28th Annual Sphinx Competition’s Junior Division. In 2024, Elan was First Place winner in the US International Music Competition’s Solo Cello division as well as First Place Winner in USIMC’s Bach Prize, and performed in the Junior Bach Festival's Honors Concert. He has been awarded multiple honors, including as a recipient of the competitive Foon Scholarship through Oakland School for the Arts in recognition of outstanding musical talent and academic achievement and as a recipient of the Senior Strings Award at King's College School, Cambridge.
Elan has attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival (studio of Paul Katz) and Center Stage Strings with Leo Singer and Horacio Contreras (2024), Indiana University School of Music (2023), the Cambridge Chamber Academy in the UK (2022), as well as summer workshops at The Crowden School and National Cello Institute. Elan has performed in master classes with Robert Cohen and Sheku Kanneh-Mason and has given invited solo performances in London, Cambridge, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Playing cello allows Elan to find a language to interpret the world and reflect on the struggles and beauty of humanity. In his free time, Elan enjoys running, spending time with friends, learning about etymology, and baking.
Elan is a sophomore at Berkeley High School.
