Join us at the Sausalito Center for the Arts for an enlightening journey through thought-provoking artworks, motivational lectures, and compelling films that explore the intersection of ocean debris, scorched earth, extinction, and sea level rise.
These crises are not mere isolated incidents; they are threads woven into the evolving fabric of our global ecosystem. It is imperative that we educate ourselves on the multifaceted challenges of climate change and global disasters. Their impact reverberates through our lives now, and their repercussions will only magnify unless we take decisive action.
During this multi-week exhibition, the Sausalito Center for the Arts will unite artists, authors, filmmakers, and game changers in a collaborative effort to spark awareness and ignite inspiration for meaningful change.
Through the power of art, film literature and discussion, let us explore avenues to mitigate and, ultimately, eradicate these calamities—many of which stem from human actions. Let us seize the opportunity to become catalysts for a healthier planet and a safer future.

"An Infectious Spirit of Care..." - Lecture by Isabella Kirkland
Sunday, May 19, 4:00pm to 5:30pm.
Isabella Kirkland is a nationally notable artist who continues to document in her rich and diverse oil paintings some of Earth’s rare flora and fauna and engages in activism on behalf of species that cannot advocate for themselves. Many of her works depict a range of species now extinct and remind us how fragile this earth really is and the need for us all to become caretakers and stewards of all forms of life on this planet.
How can we stay engaged and positive in the face of the magnitude of the ecological problems the world faces? How can one person make a difference given that magnitude? Kirkland will show how her work is one response to these questions and how research for her paintings has amplified her understanding of the complexity of nature. She uses what has been called "an infectious spirit of care" to urge greater protection for Nature, and offers her thoughts on how others might find ways to help conserve what remains of Nature's complex connections.

Artist Reception
Sunday, May 19, 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
Join us in meeting the talented artists behind Eco Evolution, who will present an array of environmental artworks at SCA. These artists are deeply concerned about both local and global environmental issues.
Unlike traditional environmental art, Ecological art encompasses more than just aesthetics; it integrates functional ecological restoration, social activism, and community engagement. This genre delves into politics, culture, economics, ethics, and aesthetics, all in consideration of how they influence ecosystem conditions.
